Today I'm going to show you a little project my kids and I did to kind of spice up our summer dinner table.
I picked up these bamboo placemats from Target's $2.50 section...4 mats for $2.50...that's my kind of placemat.
I found some silhouettes that I really loved and that really represented summer & my kids to me. I cut them onto vinyl (with my Silhouette machine) and placed the reverse image onto the placemats...
Then, after making sure the vinyl was stuck to the mat reeeaaallly well, my daughter & I dabbed paint over the top of our stencil...making sure to keep our brushes vertical, so as to minimize paint seepage under the vinyl...
We let the paint dry for a minute or two (we didn't want it to dry too much because we didn't want it peeling up when we took the stencil off), peeled up the vinyl, and done!
There you have it...easy peasy, dressed-up placemats!
My kids adore eating off of these placemats...they each feel so special having a mat to call his/her own...and they clean up really well...bonus.
Here's where I'm linking up this week...
